First new character introduced on: February 18, 2021
Last new character introduced on: November 22, 2023
Content here compiled on: April 2, 2026

    ＜🤔＞

2020 Year End Recap

(If you have a short reading attention span, feel free to just skip to the actual ranking, which you'd have to click into the blog post to view >:3)

While my blog has been put back into action back at the end of 2016, in early 2020, one thing led to another that finally made me mass-posted what I have had in mind but never took action this whole time. In case one missed the following unspoken rule of mine, I'm explicitly making it clear now: If you feel like there's now and then new posts popping out that are backdated, you probably aren't wrong, haha. There's a couple of scenarios for this: a.] It was first published elsewhere and that's the exact published date. b.] I had a draft unpublished that indicated it to be the date last worked on. c.] It's one of the mass-posts produced/caught up in 2020.

For type c.], when it's [Series Overview], I ended up deciding to pick the day I finished the first book of the series as the published date for its post. I did contemplate about how to handle the matter for a bit; I mean, my reflex was to set the published date to when I finished the last installment of a series, as it seemed more logical, because I really ideally would have all the info needed, since all books in the series would be published at that point. However, I didn't really obtain the habit of binge-reading from start-to-end until much later, and I previously enthusiastically asked for ARCs for quite a few of then-upcoming series, and in retrospect I think it'd be unfair for me, even if it's honestly super minor, to compensate the date till much, much later, should I pick the finishing date, and actually had reviews for first books up long before I finished finales.

This particular blog post is to first document what was actually published here on this blog in 2020 (a lot being backdated, but by March, also a lot were accurately reflecting when I did, in fact, post them). Unfortunately, my reacurring bad habit is that I failed to make timely documentation, so the order in which they are posted in reality, is just approximation and guesstimation.

Note: Notice two font sizes below? The regular size matching this sentence and paragraphs above, are my makeup work for before. The smaller size (like this) are the ones that are posted extremely closed to, if not in fact on, the exact published date. Those, should there actually be casual viewers of my blog, are hard to miss, since the Blog Archive function reflects them quite well, and the backdated ones are what easily gone unnoticed, hence the emphasis.

This very post itself, is, unfortunately, actually published in 2021 and again backdated. That said, I'm hoping at least for the Year End Recap posts, this would be the last time it occured. To be fair, this is once again one of those I've actually had it all thought out; it didn't get released in time because by the end of 2020, I came really close to not finishing what I've planned to read, and those took my first priority. Anyways, as of 2021/4/11, according to the Blog Archive function, I have 28 posts published in 2020, some, like this one, are backdated, so from the list above, you'd see pandemic prompted me to be relatively super productive.

It's because of 2020's unusual circumstances that resulted in the first part being rather large. I hope people are patient enough to reach this part, lmao. On Goodreads, there's the My Year in Books function they provided that give some statistics, [check out mine for 2020!] (My GR profile is set for GR Users only, so this one, you'd have to login in order to view.) There's also the Goodreads Year in Review, [read mine!] (no GR account required.)

So what's different here is that I'm going to rank what I've read, but limited to series that concluded or standalones, extras, and compilations published in this year. 2020 does not make a great example but it's a start lol. And, ladies and gents, drum roll....!

[Series Overview] The Divine Cities - Robert Jackson Bennett

I started this series on: December 25, 2020
I finished this series on: December 31, 2020
Cover editions here updated on: August 16, 2025
Written content here updated on: December 27, 2020

Disclaimer, one you'd see on multiple posts
As I struggled to decide which book series to cover overviews for, it dawned to me that I'd never get started at this rate. It became clear to me that, it's rather unlikely for me to use this blog as my "main" reviewing spot since I have Goodreads for that, and chances of someone miraculously stumbling across this blog out of the countless ones out there, is just rather slim, therefore, I'd put up links to my GR reviews (in English,) and this post would be in Chinese for people who are curious about the series but either aren't comfortable with or just don't prefer reading in English.

Please also note that, sometimes I don't have time to write actual reviews, HOWEVER, I do always put down thoughts when I document my reading status updates, so for GR desktop users, remember to scroll down if it appears to contain little, it'd be under the quotes I liked from that book (when applicable lol;) for mobile app users, remember to switch to "Reading Activity," which would not be the default as "Review" is.

The actual review is, as usual, WIP, but like I said above, getting the post out there first.

The following section, basically a gallery of editions around the world with different book cover art, is largely inspired by treatments of fellow blogger Amethyst, who unfortunately hasn't done those types of blog posts for a while.

Please DO NOT mistaken the following to be all existing editions; I'm only including completed sets with matching designs. All clickable images are linked to respective editions on GR; people, shelving correct editions ain't that hard. Highly recommend accurate shelving. =D
