Disclaimer, one you'd see on multiple posts
As I struggled to decide which book series to cover overviews for, it dawned to me that I'd never get started at this rate. It became clear to me that, it's rather unlikely for me to use this blog as my "main" reviewing spot since I have Goodreads for that, and chances of someone miraculously stumbling across this blog out of the countless ones out there, is just rather slim, therefore, I'd put up links to my GR reviews (in English,) and this post would be in Chinese for people who are curious about the series but either aren't comfortable with or just don't prefer reading in English.

Please also note that, sometimes I don't have time to write actual reviews, HOWEVER, I do always put down thoughts when I document my reading status updates, so for GR desktop users, remember to scroll down if it appears to contain little, it'd be under the quotes I liked from that book (when applicable lol;) for mobile app users, remember to switch to "Reading Activity," which would not be the default as "Review" is.

The actual review is, as usual, WIP, but like I said above, getting the post out there first.

Please DO NOT mistaken the following to be all existing editions; I'm only including completed sets with matching designs. All clickable images are linked to respective editions on GR; people, shelving correct editions ain't that hard. Highly recommend accurate shelving. =D

[Food in Books] The Door in the Alley (The Explorers #1) - Adrienne Kress

  • Ch. 3
    • Tea service Sebastian was invited to, by Myrtle Algens
Before her was a full tea service: teapot, cups, saucers, milk and sugar, and a three-tiered display of little cakes and sandwiches.
    • Sebastian's tea (served by Myrtle)
She added the milk, plopped two sugar cubes into the drink with the aid of a pair of silver tongs, and passed it over to him.
    • A cookie
  • Ch. 5
    • Gaseous carp
"Gaseous carp. They smell and taste like rotten eggs. They are fantastic. Would you like to try?" Tobias held up a small flaky pastry and Sebastian shook his head.
  • Ch. 6
    • Brussels sprouts (Sebastian's favorite)

    • Caesar salad
    • A gallon of rocky road ice cream
    • Lemon-meringue pie (made by Joanie Cash-Henley)
    • Chocolate cheesecake (made by Joanie; DeeDee's favorite)
The crunchy cookie crush contrasted with the smooth cream cheese, which made the bittersweet dark chocolate layer even more intense.
    • Salted-caramel chocolates (from Copper Mountain Chocolate)
      (all for DeeDee's welcome-back dinner)
    • Frozen yogurt
    • Oatmeal (with raisins)
    • Milk
  • Ch. 2
    • An apple
    • Coffee
    • Copper Mountain Chocolate
The dark shell broke apart to reveal a smooth buttery center that melted on her tongue and made her forget all her problems for a moment.

Picture Book Reading List [UPDATED on July, 2017]

Hi all! Originally, I had intended to post all book reviews on Goodreads, thinking that, hey, I have an account there, why not? That being said, I've been firm from the beginning to exclude reviews when it comes to manga or comicbooks, due to how the majority of stories in those formats won't conclude in small amount of volumes; long story short it will blow my rating ratio out of proportion, and I don't want to give people the impression that I'm one of those people who would only give out high ratings, because that really ISN'T the case, just that if factoring books in those form, it could easily seem that way.

I became a NetGalley member on Sept. 6, 2016, and tentatively (at the beginning) ventured the world of ARC provided by them since then. While it adds pressure (for books with a set archiving date), I'm opened to so many books I wouldn't have known about had I not joined, so I was very eager to share how I came to know those books in my GR reviews. Including ARCs of picture books I got from them. Until I realized it was doing the same thing I foresaw with manga/comicbooks; my rating ratio quickly landed on the higher side. Which was why I decided to stop including picture books (the ones that are less than 50 pages) on my GR account on Feb., 2017.

Like for manga/comicbooks, I intend to review picture books on this blog instead. Unfortunately, I read slow, but I write even slower. I haven't had the time to create individual posts, and the picture books are gradually piling up waiting to be reviewed. Hence I decided to do the next best thing, at least compiling a list of the books, just to keep them organized, and if people happen to be passing by, there'd get to see what I've been reading.

(NOTE: I will NOT be removing what I've already added on GR.)

[Food in Books] Charmed by Chocolate (Love at the Chocolate Shop #6) - Steena Holmes

  • Ch. 1
    • A mug of tea
    • Fresh-baked chocolate chip oatmeal muffins
    • Cinnamon buns
      (all made by Leah)
  • Ch. 3
    • Sage's hot chocolate
Leah followed Sage to the counter and watched as the woman stirred the drinking chocolate with a wooden spoon before filling two mugs.

“Don't you skimp on that whipping cream, you hear?” Grams called out.

“Never.” Sage covered the large helping of whipped cream with fresh chocolate shavings before setting the two mugs on a tray.
    • A mint melt and a truffle
      (all from Copper Mountain Chocolate)

[Food in Books] The Valentine Quest (Love at the Chocolate Shop #5) - Melissa McClone

* Note:
In Ch. 4, Nevada and Dustin was tasked to make chocolate, but other than knowing how they failed the first two times, and some tips on what to avoid doing, there wasn't exactly anything specific mentioned about the chocolate they were making. The only known ingredient is chocolate itself, which is why I didn't list the whole ordeal below.
  • Ch. 1
    • Heart-shaped pies and cakes
    • The Valentine display of Copper Mountain Chocolates
Molded heart-shaped chocolates on sticks, covered with cellophane, and tied with red and pink ribbons were arranged like flowers in a pretty red vase. Fancy heart-shaped boxes and white doilies held pyramids of gourmet chocolates. Shoppers would be enticed—or guilt tripped—into spending a fortune on their valentine.
    • Hot chocolate with swirled whipped cream and sprinkled chocolate shavings on top (made by Dakota)
  • Ch. 2
    • Beer
    • A bag of chips

[UPDATED on Mar 7, 2022]

  1. 《聖魔之血 Reborn on the Mars》
  2. 《聖魔之血 Rage Against the Moons》

  1. ASCII MEDIA WORKS -
  8. ASCII MEDIA WORKS -
